Rostes is nestled in the Forrest near to the Estonia border/Baltic seaside with a river running on one border of the property. The river is the Salaca and has cute little red cliffs. Our land is actually part of a National forest. Its magical. We have a humble organic homestead, where we farm, craft, build, harvest and enjoy life the sustainable way as best we can.
We are busy all year around. Our house is also the home to our studios. Clare is a weaver and whatever she can get her hands on kinda artist and Edgars potter/wood craftsmen. So you can learn to weave a belt to making snowshoes. In the summer time we have a big garden and are harvesting many things from the forest/fields. We grow, harvest, and make our own medicinal herbs, winter food supply, teas, etc. We are well rounded countrysiders who have lived on different continents and try to bring all that together here. We love sharing knowledge that has been shared to us, like brewing beer, making cheese, plowing with horses, wine making, wild edibles, crafts. etc etc!!!!
We can always use extra hands gardening in the spring summer or fall. Or with other projects around the property. we always have some dream brewing.
Summertime there are often fires, peeps coming and going, and trips. we are close to some really beautiful spots (including our property) . the river is there for you to jump in a refresh anytime. We like to play music (so just grab some spoons) and good eating (One of Clare's passions is cooking!) so one can expect a very colorful time at Rostes
If you come there are beds, a hot shower (but you gotta make the fire:), hot tub (literally a cast iron tub with a fire underneath open to the stars) kitchen for use and also plenty of space for setting up a tent to sleep under the sky.
If anyone is interested in coming in winter just for weaving, Clare can offer an apprenticeship work in her studio for a week or so.
