About

CPOC stands for Conscious People organising change. The non-profit organisation helps poor and orphaned children by providing education, material help and a place to live in an effort to alleviate poverty amongst the children of Cambodia. Currently CPOC consists of two sister centres Happy Land and Wonderful Land which are both situated in the Takeo Province of Cambodia on different sites, run seperately. You can reach both centres from Phnom Penh. Both centres rely entierly on donations and support from volunteers.

Wonderful Land is home to 13 children of the Tropang Romdul Village who have difficult family situations or no family situation at all. The children eat, sleep and play here and CPOC pays for them to attend regular school. The volunteers help with cooking, cleaning, DIY and lead daily English classes for small groups of kids.

Happy land is a community centre, school and safe space for the children of the Prey San Dak Village. This centre serves the community by offering English, Maths, Science, Computing and personal hygiene classes as well as providing day care for the poor and working. Although at present Happy Land is not residential there are plans in the near future to develop the centre into a fully feldged orphanage. Volunteers at Happy Land primarily help with teaching.

The goal of both centres is to teach the kids life skills that will help them in the future with finding jobs and studying at University. We have done a lot of work over the past couple of years to help the poor families in the area. We have helped build new homes for them as well as provided them with filtered water and food from the community garden.
